Tell City, Indiana - Zella T. Stilwell Gilbert, 90, formerly of Tobinsport, passed away on December 20, 2014, at her home. She was born in Tobinsport on November 9, 1924. Her parents were the late C.E. and Ethel (Ahl) Tinsley. Also preceding her in death was her first husband, Bob Stilwell; her second husband, Dr. Gordon Gilbert; brother, Alex "Eck" Tinsley; grandsons, Danny Stilwell, Eddie Cronin and Joe Piper and a great granddaughter, Megan Piper. Zella was a 1942 graduate of Cannelton High School. She and her husband, Bob Stilwell, co-owned T & S Towing, a river towing company, for over 20 years, retiring in 1974. She served the company as its secretary and treasurer. She and her family enjoyed spending time together, especially camping and boating on the river. Zella was a dedicated member of Clayton Harris Memorial United Methodist Church where she played the piano for over fifty years. She was a member of several organizations and volunteered her time to many, including the Daughters of American Revolution, Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Perry County Museum, Red Hat Society, Order of Eastern Star, Woman's Travel Club, Knits and Knots Knitting Club and Little Shubael Village. Surviving are her son, Charlie Stilwell, Tobinsport; daughters, Babby Cronin, Tobinsport and Patty Jones, Tell City; grandchildren, Angie Fleck, Robbie Stilwell (Jessica), Ann Smith (Rick), Emily Roark (Phil), Jennifer Zingg and Julie Wilde (Chris); seventeen great grandchildren; a sister, Naomi Ruth Franzman, Louisville, KY; a sister- in- law, Dorothy Hall, Evansville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Simons Cemetery in Tobinsport. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday and from 11:00 until service time on Monday. An Order of Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM and a Daughters of American Revolution memorial service at 6:30 PM on Sunday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Clayton Harris Memorial United Methodist Church, Jasper's Food Pantry or Eddie Cronin Memorial Football Scholarship Fund.
