William Volgemann

Tell City, Indiana - William O. Volgemann, , passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Golden Living Center. He was born in Tell City on November 17, 1933. His parents were the late Julius Volgemann and Louise (Becker) Volgemann Mosby. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Dorothy Hinton and Betty Zuelly and a brother, Paul Volgemann. William graduated from Tell City High School in 1952 where he was active in sports, especially football. He married Bettye (Conner) on August 9, 1952 in Lamar. William retired from Willamette Industries in 1996, after 30 years of service. A member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, William enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling. Surviving him are his wife of 59 years, Bettye; daughters, Victoria Clark (Gary) and Deborah Taylor (Michael), both of Tell City; brother, Julius Volgemann; grandchildren, Tom Taylor, Chad Taylor (Jamie), Ryan Clark, Josh Clark (fiance, Britney Hendershot) and Shawn Clark (Kathryn)and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Evangelical United Church of Christ with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Saturday and from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Sunday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ.
