Tell City, Indiana William J. "Joe" Minto, 88, passed away September 1, 2018 at his home. He was born in Cannelton, Indiana on January 30, 1930 son of the late William J. and Mabel (Rausch) Minto. Also preceding him in death was his sister, June Retter. Joe was a 1948 graduate of Cannelton High School and had attended Lockyear Business College. He was married on November 22, 1951 to Martha Poehlein at the Tell City Evangelical and Reformed Church. He served his country in the United States Army where he was a sergeant. Joe was chosen to participate with Honor Flight of Southern Indiana where he was able to go to Washington D.C. to view memorial locations with fellow veterans. He retired from Indiana Department of Corrections where he was manager of the food warehouse. He had also worked for several years at the former Can-Tex Industries located in Cannelton. Joe was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2939, American Legion Post #213 and Loyal Order of Moose 1424. He enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and neighbors and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Surviving are his wife Martha Minto; son, Murray J. Minto (Nancy), Trenton, Kentucky; a brother, Jerry Minto, Evansville, IN; granddaughter, Kelsey Minto, Owensboro, Kentucky; niece, Donna Jo Cronin, St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with entombment at Greenwood Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 11:00 AM until service time on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight of Southern Indiana.
