Tell City, Indiana William J. Howell, 85, passed away at his home near Bristow on November 13, 2018. He was born in Perry County, Indiana on June 27, 1933, to the late Oliver and Mary J. (Landers) Howell. Bill was a 1951 graduate of Tell City High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He left Indiana with his children in 1973 for a job with Motorola in Phoenix, Arizona. Retiring in March of 1998, he wasted no time in returning home to Tell City. Known as Bill to his friends and family (and Willy to himself when he missed a putt). He enjoyed golf, where he was a member of Lucas Oil Golf Course in English, IN, rooted for the Red Sox and his family meant the world to him. He will be remembered by all for his kindness, his wisdom and quick wit. Surviving are his children; Jeffery Howell, Tell City, Patricia Coleman, Gilbert, AZ, Jennifer Marchant, Chandler, AZ and Gregory Howell, Tell City; his grandchildren Casey White (Jeff), Jimmy Armstrong and Patrick Coleman, all of Gilbert, AZ; great-granddaughter Ava White, Gilbert, AZ; and a sister, Muriel Pekinpaugh, Tell City. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Alberta Goffinet, Vivian Dupont, Evelyn Simpson, Cecil Pekinpaugh and Marie Labhart; brothers, Bethel, Ralph, Vernon Lee and Paul Howell. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CST Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Eddie Olberding will officiate. Burial will follow in Lilly Dale Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00-7:00 PM and 9:00-10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perry County Public Library or Lilly Dale Church of Christ.
