William Hawhee

March 21, 1929 — January 20, 2015

Tell City, Indiana William C. "Bill" Hawhee, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Oakwood Health Campus. He was born in Cannelton on March 21, 1929, son of the late Arnold and Hazel (Polk) Hawhee. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Hawhee. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Bill was a member of the American Legion Post #213 and V.F.W. Post #2939. He retired in 1993 from Alcoa, where he worked for over 30 years. A member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Evanston, Bill enjoyed his pets, reading, and being a member of the Volkswagen club. Bill is survived by his children; Cathy Ramsey (Tom), Georgetown, IN, Angie Dirr (Jim), Smyrna, GA, Becky Harlen (Larry), Rockport, IN, Kris Feagan (Greg), Marshall, MI and Tim Hawhee, Hatfield, IN; six grandchildren, Jennifer Hatfield, Ashley Hannum, Aidan Dirr, Alex Jones, Laura Harlen, and Drew Foreman and two great grandchildren, with another great granddaughter expected in May. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with burial in New Cliff Cemetery, where there will be joint military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post # 213 and V.F.W. Post #2939. Pastor Robert Reinhardt will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice or Perry County Animal Shelter.
