William Hall

William E. Hall, age 97, of Gainesville Florida, went home to be with the Lord July 19, 2012. He was born July 31, 1914 in Bristow, Perry County, Indiana. He was the son of Claude and Mildred Hall who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Bristow H.S. class of '32 where he met his future bride Bessie (Epple) Hall. She passed away in 2008. They were married February 25, 1939 and were devoted to each other for 69 years. They moved to Muncie, Indiana in 1942 where he was employed by Durham Manufacturing. In 1946 he was hired by Chevrolet Division of GM and later retired, completing 30 years in 1976. He started his own successful business as a Knapp Shoes sales representative and continued that until he and his wife Bessie moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1988. He was very active in serving the Lord Jesus Christ as a member of the Fairlawn Church of Christ in Muncie, where he was a Deacon and then an Elder of the Church for over 20 years. He was also a member of the University City Church of Christ in Gainesville where he likewise actively served. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his children Mildred June Schmid (Ken) Indianapolis, IN, Donald W Hall (Diane) Gainesville, FL, four grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and two sisters. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Tell City Church of Christ 1206 10th Street Tell City, Indiana, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Dora Children's Home, 301 W. 13th Ave., Mount Dora, FL 32757. Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, will be handling the arrangements.
