William Falls

Tell City, Indiana William S. ""Bill"" Falls, 99, passed away at 3:35 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. Bill was born June 17, 1909 in Easton, Kentucky son of the late James L. and America Emma (Easton) Falls. He married Rhoda Thrasher March 29, 1930 in Hawesville, Kentucky. Rhoda passed away in 1998. Also preceding him in death were six sisters, Anna Lee Fisher, Chalmus Robinson, Mary Williamson, Veva Williamson, Louetta Richards, & Ruby Couty. Three brothers, Arthur and Fred Falls and Richard Falls in infancy. A World War II Army veteran, Bill served two terms as sheriff of Perry County from 1960 to 1968 and retired from Maxon Marine in 1974. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, the Knights of Pythias, American Legion Post # 213, and Loyal Order of the Moose # 1424, he was past president of the Perry County Conservation Club and a charter member of the local Fraternal Order of Police. Bill was a lover of Bluegrass music and a past member of the International, Central Indiana, Daviess County, and Southern Indiana Bluegrass Music associations. He was also a past member of the Hancock County Kentucky Genealogical Society. He is survived by: His daughter, Marilyn Shewmaker and her husband Robert of Edmond, Oklahoma A granddaughter, Alison Giordano, Edmond, Oklahoma A grandson, Brad Shewmaker and his fiance Nina Meyer, Sydney, Australia A great grandson, Tony Giordano, Edmond Oklahoma Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, July 27, 2008 at First Baptist Church. Rev. Lee Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City with military graveside rites by American Legion Post # 213. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday and from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM Sunday at Huber Funeral Home 1139 12th Street, Tell City. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Museum, Shuba Little Village, or First Baptist Church.
