Tell City, Indiana - Wayne A. Pekinpaugh, 93, passed away on February 25, 2014, at his home. He was born on February 11, 1921, in Perry County, in the Deer Creek area. His parents were the late Albert and Rhoda (Blake) Pekinpaugh. Also preceding him in death was a son, David Lee Pekinpaugh; sister, Wilma Pekinpaugh and a brother, Shirley Pekinpaugh. A 1940 graduate of Cannelton High School, he served his country in the United States Army before he married "Peg" Bender on February 7, 1948. Wayne had been a Standard Oil distributor and a lifelong farmer. He was a member of of American Legion Post #213 and Veterans of Foreign Wars #2939 and enjoyed gardening, farming, watching Jeopardy and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Peg Pekinpaugh; a daughter, Terri Pekinpaugh, Indianapolis; a son, Steven Pekinpaugh, Tell City; granddaugthers, Prudence Hoesli (Jonathan) and Hanna Fortwendel (Phil); great grandchildren, Sydney and Max Fortwendel and Addison, Tanner and Ellerie Hoesli. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 28, 2014, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday and from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Home Health Hospice and Asera Care Hospice.
