Wayne Edwards

Wayne D. Edwards, 74, passed away on December 26, 2024, in Columbus, Indiana.

He was born on October 23, 1950, to Clyde “Jack” and Minnie (Brown) Edwards.

Wayne was known as “Hot Dog” in his younger years. He had worked for Swain Industries in Seymour and Evanston, Best Chairs in Cannelton and Meggitt (the former Stewart Warner). He was a member of Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church.

Known as an honest man, Wayne enjoyed being around people and teasing his friends. He used to enjoy woodworking and whittling and looked forward to going out to eat daily with his wife, Janet. 

Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Janet (Goddard) Edwards; daughters, Jackie Edwards and Brandy Edwards; grandchildren, Zachary Perry, Chelsea Kummer (Jason) and Austin Perry (Jessika) and great grandchildren, Zhoie, Zaydyn, Allison, Karson and Nolan. 

Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Josephine, Woodrow and Pauline, all in infancy, Rosemary Beavers, Peggy Charles, Helen Anderson, Velma Jackson, Robert Edwards, Floyd “Junie” Edwards and Herschel “Short” Edwards.

Visitation will be at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 PM CST. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM EST on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver and Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington Street in Columbus with visitation from 10:00 AM EST until service time. Brother Orville Harmon will officiate.

Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery near Hunter’s Creek in Lawrence County.

Memorial contributions may be made to Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, Tell City.
