Wanda James

Derby, Indiana - Wanda L. James, 80, passed away Monday, December 6, 2016 at Golden Living Center. She was born in Tobinsport, IN, on May 19, 1936 to the late Amos C. and Nannie L. (Probus) Jackson. Also preceding her in death were first husband, Herbert Landers, Sr.; a son, Billy Joe Landers; sisters, Mary L. Williams, Stella Scales, Mary E. Bryant, Mabel Bledsoe and Mary J. Wayne; a brother, Allen Jackson in infancy; second husband, Wayne James. Wanda had worked as a waitress at the former Keown's Restaurant in Cannetlon and was a driver for Head Start. She had most recently worked in housekeeping at Day's Inn. Wanda attended Lilly Dale Church of Christ and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards. Surviving are her children, Linda James (Denny) of Rome, Mary Riley (Chuck) of Derby, Anna Sandage (Roger) of Cannelton, Herbert "Herbie" Landers, Jr. (Debbie) of Magnet and Mike Landers I (Barbara) of Derby; a sister, Juanita Merchant of Indiana; brothers, Amos "Peanut" Jackson, Jr. of Evansville and Jim Hadley of Midland; grandchildren,Crystal Frost, Becky Northerner, Michael Landers II and David Landers, Ashley Howell, Natasha Harrison, Derek Voges, Wendy O'Bryan, Elizabeth Wilkerson, Aaron Riley, Carrie Crockett, Katie Thorn, Blake Edwards, Jr., Joseph Edwards, Roger Sandage, Jr., Alicia and Crystal Sandage; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Eddie Olberding will officiate. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery in Derby. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-6:00 PM and Monday 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Living Center Activity Fund.
