Walter Baur

Tell City, Indiana Walter H. "Sonny" Baur, 86, passed away on July 12, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Tell City, Indiana on September 19, 1931 to the late Albert and Dolly (Niemczyk) Baur. Also preceding him in death are sisters, Alberta "Bertie" Inman and Elsie Loraine "Sis" Kuster; brothers, Robert "Tail", Victor "Wally", Ralph "Puty" Baur and infants, Jimmy and Butch. Sonny was a 1949 graduate of Tell City High School and an Army veteran who served as a medic during the Korean War. He was united in marriage on October 6, 1956 to the former Betsy Sue Clark. Sonny retired in 1994, after 30 years with Ohio Valley Gas. He loved to fish and enjoyed playing golf and softball, pitching horse shoes, and bowling. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Baur, Tell City; his children, Denny Baur (Rita), Winslow, Indiana, Kenny Baur (Mary), Cannelton, Brenda Trujillo (Abel), Tell City and Kara Simpson, Tell City; a brother, Bill "Pee Wee" Baur, Tell City; five grandchildren, Misty Kramer, Jennifer and Emily Trujillo, Tyler Baur and Dylan Simpson; Nine step grandchildren; two great grandchildren, Bailey and Logan Kramer; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM CST on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastor Harry McDonald will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, with military rites provided by the V.F.W. Post 2939. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00-8:00 PM and Sunday from Noon until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Berean Baptist Church.
