Virginia Boeckman

February 4, 1948 — September 9, 2024

Uniontown, IN

Virginia B. Boeckman, ( Gam's) 76, passed away on September 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, in person and by phone, at the home of her “bonus” daughter in Boonville.

She was born in Tell City In, daughter of John A. and Velma M (Carter) Poehlein. Virginia graduated from Tell City High School in 1966 and studied music at Indiana University.

In the late 1960’s, she worked for RCA (both in Florida and in New York), Tell City Chair Company and retired in 2021 from Clark Security where she was a guard at Waupaca Foundry. Virginia had also been a union steward and recording secretary for Local #2930 Carpenter’s Union.

In her younger days, she enjoyed singing in many different church choirs and since then found time to read, work puzzles and brush up on trivia. Virginia always looked forward to visits from her bonus grandchildren who enjoyed just hanging out and talking with her for hours and her great grandchildren who always brought smiles to her face. They've brought her so much happiness, especially these last four months since her husband passed.

Surviving is her son, Nathan Poehlein; “bonus” daughter, Leslie Gootee (Jason Quesades); Bonus grandchildren, Tyler Gerber (Danni), Jayla Dixon, Andrew Brickner (Jessica), Alex Poehlein (Allie) and Gabrielle Poehlein, and great grandchildren (who fondly called her “Gamzy”) Riley “Bee Jean” Brickner, Kimber and Archer Gerber, Evelyn Poehlein, and Kelly Harmon.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 34 years, “Ferdie” Boeckman who died in May, exactly four months ago to the day that she passed.

She asked that Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, take care of her requests and that it was to be just like Ferdie’s back in May, simple with no service at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heart-to-Heart Hospice.
