Violet Howell

Tell City, Indiana - Violet E. Howell, 65, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at her home. She was born in Hancock County, Kentucky on August 4, 1945. Her parents were the late Estil and Hazel (Short) Board. Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Sandra Hendershot, a son, Tim Harrison and her brothers, Darrell and Richard Board. Violet married Larry Howell on June 20, 1980, in Tennessee. She retired as a nurse's aide from Todd Dickey Nursing Home in Leavenworth and had also worked at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand and Beverly Healthcare in Tell City. She enjoyed going to horse races, gaming boats and spending time doing yard work. Violet is survived by her husband, Larry Howell; daughter, Jeanette Smitson, Tell City; sons, Mark Harrison, Tell City and Robbie Harrison, Jr., Cannelton; step daughters Paula Howell, Tell City and Tina McLain, Cannelton; sisters, Betty Taylor, Cannelton, Gail Moseby, Tell City, Anna Board, Cannelton, Kathy Ball, Cannelton, Joyce Lindauer, Tell City and Connie Brock, Cannelton; brothers, Raymond Board, Evanston, Gary Board, Tell City and Ronnie Board, Tell City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 6, 2011, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery in Gatchel. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday. Pastor Bob Campbell will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Cemetery.
