Verna Freeman

August 7, 1925 — December 23, 2020

Tell City, Indiana Verna Catherine Freeman, 95, passed away on December 23, 2020 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Tell City on August 7, 1925, daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Hess) Kieser. Verna was a 1943 graduate of Tell City High School. She briefly worked at Frederick's 5 and 10 Store until meeting her husband, Norman Freeman. They were united in marriage on December 28, 1944 at St. Paul Catholic Church. As a child, Verna played violin in the St. Paul School Orchestra and continued playing throughout her life. She enjoyed making quilts, embroidery and cross-stitch, reading and cooking; particularly her beef stew. When in their younger years, Verna and Norman enjoyed camping. Verna rarely missed any activity that her grandchildren were involved in. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Good Sam Camping Club and served as past president of the Twilight Towers Resident Association. Surviving are her husband of 76 years, Norman Freeman, Tell City; son, Tom Freeman (Linda), Tell City; a sister, Etta Jean Conen, Tell City; grandchildren, Wendy Freeman-Chann (Mike), Sanford, NC, Craig Freeman (Shana), Owensboro, KY and Kelly Freeman-Gray (Bobby), Tell City and great grandchildren, Rory, Juniper, Aubrey and Will Chann. Preceding her in death, other than her parents, was a brother, William Kieser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Stephen Donahue will officiate with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Wednesday 10:00AM until 12:00PM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. While attending the funeral home or the church, please know that a mask is to be worn and social distancing is appreciated. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
