Magnet, Indiana - Verna Maude (Stephenson) Bell, age 86, of Hermitage, Tennessee and formerly of Perry County, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017. She was born on January 13, 1930, in Roberta, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Robert Lowell and Martha Tate Stephenson. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Robert and Elbert Stephenson. Verna cared for her family from a young age. She enjoyed cooking and playing cards. She had a big sweet tooth and never could turn sweets down. Verna was an excellent homemaker, entrepreneur, and an undoubtedly strong-willed, independent, self-made woman. Her family refers to her as the rock of their family. She was such an amazing woman in all aspects of her life. She is survived by her children, Herb Schmidt and his wife, Susan, Brenda Anderson and her husband, Robert, and Dean Bell and his wife, Sandy; a sister, Clara Ann Aikin; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, with burial to follow in Stephenson Cemetery in Magnet. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Brother Joe Simpson will officiate.
