Tony Hamby

October 14, 1960 — November 30, 2021

Newburgh, Indiana Anthony Chris "Tony" Hamby, 61, of Newburgh, formerly of Tell City, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born in Madisonville, Kentucky on October 14, 1960, son of Bette (Farmer) R'Del. A 1977 graduate of Tell City High School, Tony worked for Truman Ashworth Construction as a heavy machine operator. Tony was a collector of Indian artifacts and thrived on learning the history of the life of Indians. He loved to walk the banks of the Ohio River, from Rockport to Louisville, Kentucky, finding beautiful pieces, rich in history, as knives and arrow heads with amazing qualities. An avid outdoorsman, Tony learned to love nature through his mother, Bette. She taught him that life's simple pleasures could be found outdoors. Together, they enjoyed hiking, particularly in the Smokey Mountains and had accomplished the Appalachian Trail. He and his mother would visit the Smokey Mountains any chance they could get and also liked traveling to Nassau, Bahamas. Tony loved animals, arrow head hunting with his sons, watching Hee Haw reruns, fishing, art painting, listening to music (especially Mick Jagger and Lynyrd Skynyrd) and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Surviving are his sons, Anthony Hamby (Chelsea), Tell City, Zachary Hamby (Kaylie) and Nicholas Hamby (Etienne), all of Sacramento, Kentucky; grandsons, Jayden, Peyton, Tatum, Isaiah, Kaidan; granddaughter, Anya Hamby; his mother, Bette R'Del, Newburgh and a special friend, Rhonda Helmling, Evansville. Preceding him in death was his beloved step father, Truman Ashworth. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM CST on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warrick County Humane Society.
