Tell City, Indiana - Thomas R. "Tommy" Hay, 91, passed away on July 24, 2013, at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills. He was born in December 4, 1921, in Cannelton. His parents were the late Thomas J. and Lula (Gaesser) Hay. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Ruthie Groves; brothers, Jack and Ralph Hay and Harold Hay, in infancy and a grandson, Mark Huber. Tommy was a 1940 graduate of Cannelton High School and attended University of Notre Dame. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He married Louise Sweat on February 7, 1950, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold. After 38 years, he retired from General Electric where he was a foreman in tube production. Tommy was an avid bicyclist, enjoyed reading and was an Ohio River enthusiast. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Louise Hay; daughters, Jane Huber, Racine, Wisconsin, Nancy Noland, Carmel, Indiana, Mary Houghland, Tell City and Molly Tuggle, Troy; sons, Robert Hay, Tell City and Joseph Hay, Tell City; sisters, Sue Horn, Indianapolis and Judy Herzog, Cannelton; brothers, Jimmy Hay, Owensboro, Norman Hay, Cannelton, Denny Hay, Kokomo, Earl Hay, Indianapolis and Paul Hay, Avon, Indiana; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or Perry County Public Library.
