Tell City, Indiana - Thomas E. "Tom" Hammack, 81, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Perry County on February 5, 1936, son of the late Jesse and Amanda (Cook) Hammack. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Janet (McKim) Hammack; daughter, Faith Brumfield; sisters, Bertha Bryant, Erma Leah Sommer and a sister in infancy and brothers, Ed Hammack, Ernest Hammack, Paul Hammack and Jesse "Chot" Hammack. After the loss of his first wife, Tom later married Carolyn (Cooley) Moore on July 23, 1999 at the Lynch Ole' Homeplace near St. Croix. They were able to enjoy 16 years together. He looked forward to Saturday morning visits with his son, along with volunteering at Schubael Little Pioneer Village. In 2000, Tom retired from Indiana Department of Corrections where he was a correctional officer at Branchville. Tom will be remembered for his love of playing the fiddle. He played with many bands in his time and was generous with sharing his talents with friends who resided in nursing homes. Surviving him are his wife Carolyn Hammack; son, Clinton Hammack (Becky), Tell City; step daughter, Kelly Kershner, Noblesville; step sons, Tom Kershner, Grandview and Jacob Moore (Carla), Nashville; sister, Irene Albin, Boonville; brother, Harold "Colonel" Hammack (Marilyn), Lafayette; grandchildren, Tiffany Hammack, Shane Mundy, Cassidy Barnhill and Blaze Brumfield and Lawrence Moore and a great grandson, Evan Thomas Mundy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Brian Esarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Shubael Little Pioneer Village.
