Tell City, Indiana - Sylvia V. Embry, 81, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Golden Living Center. She was born in Cloverport, Kentucky, on December 6, 1930. Her parents were the late Virgil and Esther (Goatley) Van Coney. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Carolyn Ann Embry; husband, Dan Embry; brother, Walter Van Coney and son-in-law, Leonard Noble. Sylvia retired from General Electric after 37 years of service. She attended Seventh Street Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Linda Embry, Cannelton, Jessie Dixon (Ralph), Cannelton, Shirley Noble, Tell City, Debbie Harpenau (Paul), Tobinsport and Becky Embry, Cannelton; sons, Dan Embry, Jr. (Shari) Cannelton, Ronny Embry, Cannelton, Larry Embry, Tell City and Gary Embry, Cannelton; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Cloverport Cemetery in Cloverport, Kentucky. Pastor Harold Draper will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Seventh Street Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
