Sherman Powers

Cannelton, Indiana - Sherman Powers, 78, passed away February 3, 2108 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky. He was born in Cloverport, Kentucky on April 19, 1939 to the late Charles H. Powers and Vivian (Newton) Schroeder. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Marilyn (Fuchs) Powers, brother, Charlie Powers and a granddaughter in infancy. Sherman was a 1958 graduate of Cannelton High School. He retired as a Boilermaker where he had worked at Maxon Marine. He enjoyed fishing, reading, playing video games and spending time with all his grandchildren. Surviving are his daughters, Deborah Harth, Cannelton, Lisa Havener (Tally), Cannelton, Ann Fortwendel, (Sam), Troy and Renee Powers, Cannelton; son, Keith Powers, (Shayla), Cannelton; a brother, James C. Powers, San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Brandon Powers (Leah), Kyle Powers, Ryan Powers (Edie), Megan Kleemann, Jennifer Salter, Matthew Fortwendel, Brooke Lane (Stephen), Sarah Lawalin (Cody), Damon Powers, Landon Havener and Lexi Havener; great grandchildren, Brolen and Bronsen Powers, Trevin and Braden Salter, Lola and Delaney Kleemann, Gavin, Ella and Dylan Powers, Izabelle and Greyson Havener, Troy Fortwendel, and one expected in June. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, with visitation from 3:00 until 7:00 on Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday. Frank Maffia will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cannelton Fire Department.
