Tell City, Indiana - Samuel D. ""Sam"" Reed, 85, passed away at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at his home in rural Tell City. He was born in Haynes, Arkansas, on May 31, 1923. His parents were the late Dolph Reed and Ethel Reed Bright. Also preceding in death were his wife, Hazel, three brothers, a sister and a granddaughter, Katina Stang. Sam was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Tell Church of Nazarene and a former 40-year member of Morning Star Masonic Lodge in Canton, Illinois. He enjoyed cooking and gardening. Sam retired from International Harvester in Canton, Illinois, where he was employed for over 40 years. Surviving: Son - David and Mary Reed, Tell City, Indiana Grandchildren - Crystal Merkle, Tina (Ronnie) Boling, Lafey (Debbie)Blair, Randy (Sarah)Blair, Yvette Riley, Angela (Joe)Hatera and Kathy Ward 21 Great Grandchildren Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2009, at Marietta Cemetery in Marietta, Illinois. There will be no visitation at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Tell City Church of Nazarene.
