Ruth Smith

Cannelton, Indiana Ruth F. Smith, 84, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at her home. She was born March 28, 1928 in Breckenridge County, Kentucky daughter of the late Charles and Doshie (Smith) Decker. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, James G. Smith in 1975, sons, James F. and Larry Smith,daughter, Brenda Smith and sister Gracie Obenchain. Ruth retired from Hydro-Tex in Cannelton and was a member of Tell City Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed telling others about her faith. She is survived by daughters; Betty Ramsey, Owensboro and Linda Hamrick, Cannelton; son, Johnny Smith (Pam), Cannelton; sisters, Lillian Jones, Lewisport and Carolyn Preston, Hawesville; brothers, Harold Decker, Cannelton, Billy Decker, Richland and Jimmy Decker, Hawesville; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Kingdom Hall in Tell City. James Huffman will be the speaker. A gathering will be from 3:00 until 4:00 PM Saturday after the memorial service at Kingdom Hall. Memorials contributions may be made to VNA Hospice or Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.
