Ruth Shafer

Tell City, Indiana Ruth L. Shafer, 86, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Golden Living Center Lincoln Hills. She was born in Perry County, February 28, 1923 daughter of the late Ellis and Emma (Kellems) Weatherholt. Ruth married Birch Shafer in Indianapolis on August 12, 1944. Birch passed away June 20, 2003. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Vivian Kellems, and brothers, Hiram, Frank, Melvin and Don Weatherholt. Ruth retired in 1978 from RCA, where she had worked for 37 years. She and Birch were former residents of Danville, Indiana for 26 years before moving to Tell City. Ruth enjoyed gardening, quilting and spending time with the kids. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Lee Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Living Center Activity Fund.
