Ruth Rittel

Cannelton, Indiana - Ruth Rittel, 62, passed away at 12:45 AM on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at her home. She was born in Mount Pleasant on September 26, 1949. Her parents were the late Shelva Richard King and Mary Justine (Harrison) McMahan. Also preceding her in death was her husband, James Rittel, step father, Townsend McMahan; sister, Nancy Perryman; brothers, Bill, Raymond and Mike McMahan and Donnie King and grandson, Brandon Harlen. Ruth worked at Wal-Mart until illness forced her disability. She was a faithful member of Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed gospel music, collectibles and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are her sons, Shelby Harlen (June), James Harlen and Robert Harlen; sisters, Linda Curtner (Dan), Carolyn Doogs and Sue Harlen (Doug); brothers, Richard ""Coon"" King, William King, Jim McMahan and Jasper McMahan; grandchildren, James, Brittney, Jayda, Charity and Ashli Harlen and Jeremiah Robertson; great granddaughter, Alexis Harlen; aunt, Irene Ball and uncle, Bernard Harrison. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday. Rev. Lewis C. Garrett will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Freewill Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
