Oriole, Indiana - Russell A. Knieriem, 81, passed away on August 28, 2016. He was born in Oriole on June 15, 1935, son of the late Lafe and Vivian (Senn) Knieriem. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Carolyn Sue Knieriem; sisters, Irene Young and Esther Mueller and brothers, Eugene Knieriem and Jerome Knieriem. A 1953 graduate of Oil Township High School, Russell married Juanita Sturgeon on June 15, 1955, at First United Methodist Church in Tell City. He had worked at General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky, for over 22 years, later retiring from the Indiana State Highway Department. Russell was a member of Branchville United Methodist Church, Corydon Coon Hunters and National Rifle Association. Russell enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and listening to music. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Juanita; sons, Dan Knieriem (Paula), New Salisbury, Mike Knieriem (Diane Stroud), Paoli and Jeff Knieriem (Melody), Depauw; daughter, Tammy (Knieriem) Hubbard, Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Harry Marcus Knieriem, Louisville, Kentucky and Donald Leonard Knieriem, Murray, Kentucky; ten grandchildren, Josh Huff, Ashley Burns, Brad, Tiffany, Chrissy, Jeffery and Evan Knieriem, Nikki Redmon and Alex and Adam Hubbard; ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Luxemburger Cemetery near Oriole. Pastor Josh Harris will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Branchville United Methodist Church or Luxemburger Cemetery.
