Rudy Houser joined his Heavenly family on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 92 years of age. Rudy is survived by his two daughters; Perri Bewley and Susan Cherry (Gary) of Bowling Green, one brother; Charles Houser (Huretta), Chesapeake, Virginia, several nieces and nephews, five grandchildren; Alex Cherry (Amy), Thompkinsville, Amy Curry, Bowling Green, Josh Lawalin (Sara), Tell City, Indiana, Erika Hollinden (Andy), Tell City, Indiana, and Phillip Lawalin (Katy), Pulaski, Virginia; seven great grandchildren, Michael Cherry, Patrick Cherry, Morgan Curry, Elise Lawalin, Leo Lawalin, Grayson Hollinden and Leah Hollinden. Rudy was known for the good things he grew. A hearty muscadine grapevine he planted when he was 12 years old in his Kingston, Tennessee home still produces grapes today. Beautiful Christmas trees grown in Perry County, Indiana provided Christmas joy to families in southern Indiana for many years. Cannelton neighbors still enjoy the hardwood trees as housewarming gifts. As the area USDA Conservationist, Rudy touched many lives. He was a member of First Baptist church in Cannelton, Indiana and attended Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel in Bowling Green, Kentucky. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Bowling Green Gardens.
