Ronald Thompson

Tell City, Indiana Ronald "Ron" Thompson, 81, passed away October 31, 2017 at his home. He was born in Wilson, Wisconsin on June 30, 1936 to the late Harry and Nellie (Eggman) Thompson. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Robin Thompson; son, James Thompson; sister, Irene Engstrom; brother, Randy Thompson. Ron was united in marriage on June 21, 1986 to the former Donna Kuebler, who survives. He retired in 1995 from Alcoa. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church. Known for his jokes and sense of humor, Ron loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, hunting with his daughter, playing cards, traveling and his dog "Grizzy". Surviving are his wife, Donna Thompson, Tell City; children, Wendy Payne (Larry), Valrico, FL, Mike Thompson (Donna), Bay St. Louis, MS, Karen Shirrell (Bill), Carmel, IN, Roxanne Bratcher, Tara Schneider (Jason Burgess), Jenny Sabelhaus (Lloyd), Traci Newton and Dawnita McIntosh (Cory), all of Tell City, IN; sisters, Geraldine Ester, Elmwood, WI, Lillian Riedel, Hudson, WI, Carol Brown, Randolph, NY and Colleen Slama, Baldwin, WI; brothers, Thomas Thompson, St. Paul, MN and Galen Thompson, Roberts, WI; grandchildren, Bradley Bohn, Amber, Ashley and Michael "Buddy" Thompson, Brayleigh Risse, Brett Thompson Katherine, Kimberly, Nicholas, Christopher and Michael Shirrell, Bryan and Jonathon Bratcher, Marrisa Schneider, Kenzie and Brayden Burgess, Dane Sabelhaus, Kaycie Sabelhaus Thompson, Clint, Amanda, Tyler and Nick Albin, Logan, D.J. and Alex Newton, Madison Gilliland, Maison Gehlhausen, Rylee and River McIntosh; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 702 10th Street, Tell City. Rev. Samuel Padgett and Rev. Paul Alvey will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. and Sunday 10:00-11:30 A.M at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
