Tell City, Indiana –
Ronald A. Cook, 77, passed away on August 12, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.
He was born in Tell City on March 24, 1947, son of Clifford A. and Clarina (Goffinet) Cook.
Ron served his country during the Vietnam War. He was in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939.
Ron was a towboat engineer and retired from Hunter Marine Transport. He loved being on the water, especially the Ohio, Cumberland and Mississippi Rivers.
He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, watching Westerns and war documentaries.
Surviving is his wife, Johla (Hempfling) Cook; children, Kurt Kelley, Robert Ledlow (Melinda), Joselynn Ross (William) and Maria Held (John) and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His parents and his brother, Dennis Cook, preceded him in death.
Military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #2939 at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. The burial will be later in Lilly Dale Cemetery. There will be visitation from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to River’s Edge Animal Shelter.
