Hawesville, Kentucky - Ronald L. "Ron" Boswell, 68, passed away on February 21, 2014, at his home. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 3, 1945. A U.S. Navy veteran, Ron served his country during the Viet Nam Era. He married Kim Rickel on August 15, 1996 in Sevierville, Tennessee. Ron retired as maintenance supervisor at Aleris after 28 years of employment. After retirement, he worked in courthouse security for Hancock County Sheriff's Department enjoyed building trains, woodworking, camping and yard work. Surviving are his wife, Kim (Rickel) Boswell; son, Charles W. Boswell (Shelly); step daughter, Fawn Renee Carrico (Jason); step son, Matthew Aaron Martin; grandchildren, Alyssa, Rusty, Ross and Jayse; sisters, Pam Barnes (Joey), Elizabeth Ellis (Devon), Donna Saylor (Terry), Cathy McGrew (Britt); brothers, Paul Burks and William Burks, Sr (Linda).; mother-in-law, Patsy Wilson (Howard); father-in-law, Eugene Rickel (DiAnne); sister-in-law, Tracy Rickel; brother-in-law, Gregory Rickel and thirteen nieces and nephews and seventeen great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the parents who raised him, William and Helen Burks; daughter, Helen Delores Boswell; step son, Mark Alan Martin and his first wife, Alice June Boswell. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Community Praise & Worship Church, Lighthouse Road, Hardinsburg, Kentucky, 40143. Memorial contributions may be made to Mitchell Cancer Center of Owensboro, Hospice of Western Kentucky or University of Vanderbilt Hospital.
