Roland Foertsch

January 21, 1920 — March 8, 2010

Evanston, Indiana After a lengthy illness, our father's body grew dimmer but his soul grew brighter on the evening of March 8, 2010 when Roland R. ""Bud"" Foertsch left this world to join his beloved wife, Thelma. Roland was born in Spencer County on January 21, 1920, son of the late Werner and Alta (Held) Foertsch. He was a Chrisney High School graduate and was married on June 29, 1941 at St. John Lutheran Church to the former Thelma Polster, who passed away in 2005. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Eugene and Robert Foertsch. A United States Army veteran of WW II, he was a member of the American Legion Post #213 and Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Bud retired from Mulzer Crushed Stone, then became a driver for Polster Beverage Company. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, boating and following his grandchildren's sporting events. He was formerly a member of the St. John's choir. Bud especially looked forward to the visits from family and friends. Bud is survived by two daughters, Peggy Johnson, Lamar, Charlynn Zimmerman and her husband Charlie, Evanston, his sister, Katherine Brown, Lamar, grandchildren, Michelle King, Kenneth and John Michael Johnson, Shawn and Sarah Webb and Rachel Tuggle. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City with burial in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Evanston where the American Legion Post # 213 will conduct military graveside services. Visitation is from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday and 9:00 until 10:30 AM Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
