Grandview, Indiana Retired Air Force Major Robert R. Richey, 87, passed away, Friday January 23, 2009 at Rio Grande Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Mr. Richey was born December 13, 1921 in Jasonville, Indiana son of the late Harry and Edna (Richardson) Richey. He married Betty Helm April 9, 1945. She passed away November 22, 2007. Also preceding him in death was a brother George Richey and a sister Mary Marchand. Robert retired from the U.S. Air Force as a pilot after 20 years of active reserve duty. He served in Word War II as an instructor pilot and was a machinist. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post # 254 in Rockport, Indiana. He enjoyed bowling, camping, traveling, woodworking and fishing. He is survived by: Son, Robert R. Richey II, Grandview, Indiana Daughter, Barbara Weiss, Lacombe, Louisiana 2 Sisters, Dorothy Thomas and Dualee Jarboe, both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana Brother, Leo Richey, Leesburg, Indiana 3 Grandchildren, Chris Richey, Laura Richey-Kempa, and Robyn Richey 2 Great Grandchildren Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel. Ernest St. John will officiate. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Grandview, Indiana where there will be military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post #254. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Cemetery, Grandview, Indiana.
