Tell City, Indiana Robert E. "Bob" Powers, 87, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 7, 1926 in Cannelton, son of the late Jess and Clyda Mae (Spencer) Powers. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Alfred, David and Hargis Powers and Harry Lee Powers in infancy and a great grandson, Cain Kieser, in infancy. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and later a U.S. Air Force veteran, Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cannelton. He was united in marriage March 17, 1951 to Mary Ida (Robson) Powers, who survives him. He had worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas and Seattle, Washington and retired from J.A. Jones Construction. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union. Bob enjoyed listening to Hank Williams, Sr., gambling, playing slot machines and cards, NASCAR and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ida Powers; a daughter, Kimberly Powers Ball of Tell City; sons, Robert B. Powers (Barbara), Richard J. "Dickie" Powers (Anne) and Kelly Powers, all of Tell City; five grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Marievelyn, Samantha and Brandon Powers, two step-grandchildren, Allen and Deanna Walker; four great grandchildren, Ian, McKenzie, Nicholas and Wyatt Powers and his caregiver, Jewel Goodridge, of Hancock County, Kentucky. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery in Cannelton. Bro. Lewis C. Garrett will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and from 9:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #213. Memorial contributions may be made to Oaks Senior Center in Cannelton.
