Bristow, Indiana - Robert Alan Cassidy, 76, passed away at 5:45 AM on July 3, 2013, at his home. Alan was born in Tell City on February 5, 1937. His parents were the late Andrew and Mary (Oestheimer) Cassidy. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Hazel Culpepper and brothers, Earl, Donald and Ralph Cassidy. A 1955 graduate of Tell City High School, Alan was united in marriage on June 20, 1959, to the former Sandy Fergason at First United Methodist Church in Tell City. During his teenage years, he worked for Cyril Foster Trucking and later worked at Mulzer's. He retired, after twenty eight years, from Alcoa as a supervisor in the finishing department. Alan was a member of Bristow Christian Church, where he had served as an Elder, Branchville Masonic Lodge #496 F & AM, and Order of Eastern Star # 272. He had served on the board for Bristow Community Center and Bristow Cemetery Association. Alan was a member of the Association of Indiana County Councils and Indiana 15 Regional Planning Committee. He had served as president of both organizations. In May of this year, Alan resigned his elected position on the Perry County Council after serving for over 18 years. Alan enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He always looked forward to attending his grandsons' school activities and sporting events. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sandy Cassidy; sons, Brad Cassidy, his wife, Colleen and children, Andrea Monnig and Timothy Monnig (Jessica) and Brian Cassidy, his wife, Lori and sons, Clinton and Tanner Cassidy; sister, Kathi Sabelhaus (Dave) and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Bristow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday. There will be a masonic memorial service at 6:30 pm on Friday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Bristow Christian Church or Bristow Cemetery Fund.
