Tell City, Indiana
Rita M. LaGrange, 76, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born on May 22, 1948, daughter of Fredrick and Anna (Braunecker) Heeke.
Rita was a 1966 graduate of Perry Central High School and was united in marriage on February 3, 1968, to Allen P. LaGrange at St. Martin of Tours in Siberia; sharing 56 years together.
She retired as a purchasing agent from Meggitt Industries, in Troy. Rita was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a former member of the K of C Auxiliary and Ladies of the Moose. She was co-founder of “United We Stand”; when her son served in Desert Storm.
Rita had a green thumb and loved working in her flower beds and garden. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and giving things she made to others as gifts. Rita also was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, walking and going to the gym with her friends, prior to her illness.
Surviving is her husband, Allen LaGrange, Tell City; children, Eric LaGrange (Teresa) and Valerie Schlabach; grandchildren, Alicia, Dylan, Jolean, Connor, Luna, Nate, Heidi, Joey and Annie; sisters, Alberta Hanners, Shirley Sullivan and Rosie LaGrange (Joe); brothers, Patrick Heeke (Jane), Frank Heeke (Martha) and Danny Heeke (Sharon); sisters-in-law, Sara Heeke, Betty Heeke, Millie Heeke Blemker and Katie Heeke; several nieces and nephews and her in-laws, the LaGrange’s.
Preceding Rita in death were her parents; sister, Mary Ann Heeke in infancy; brothers, Bob, Charlie, Joe, Paul and Jim Heeke and a niece, Brooke Flamion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Father Tony Hollowell will officiate.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00- 10:00 AM in the narthex of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brooke’s Journey, a nonprofit organization dedicated to Brooke Flamion, Rita’s niece, who passed away from a brain tumor at 17. Brooke’s family and friends are committed to continuing her dream of helping others and making the world a better place.
