Richard James

Richard Kenneth James, 82, passed away on December 9, 2022 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Tell City, Indiana on February 29, 1940, son of Kenneth Paul and Rebecca (Alvey) James. Since 1980, Richard had worked in several coal mines, including, Kelco, Spencer Coal and Warrick Coal. He had also worked at Mulzer's and he retired from Conex in 2010. Richard was a proud member of the NRA and enjoyed fox hunting, ginseng and yellow root digging and his family referred to him as the "shade tree" mechanic- where he would tinker and fix anything. Surviving are his children Lisa Suchanek (Brian), Ankey, IA, Rick James (Cheryl), Angela Galey, Stephanie "Teppie" Henson (Mark Stephens), Michelle "Shellie" Harding (Brad), all of Tell City and Jason James (Amber Puckett), Derby; sisters, Patty Shelton (Dale), Alton and Carol Kleaving (Steve), Tell City; a brother, Bill James (Penny), Cannelton; grandchildren, Kimmie and Katie Lyons, Jessica and Kyle James, Cord Bennett, Isaiah James, Michael Galey, Wade James, Dusty Harding and Kaylynn James and several great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Doris "Kay" (Ball) James and siblings, Joy Howell, Wayne James, Bobby James, Dennis James and Paul Michael James, in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CST on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Burial will follow in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00-7:00 PM and Tuesday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to River's Edge Animal Shelter in Cannelton. Huber Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. James.
