Richard Heerdink

Bristow, Indiana Richard S. "Dick" Heerdink, 79, passed away on March 15, 2023 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Evansville on February 2, 1944 to Richard L. and Pauline (Hartman) Heerdink, who preceded him in death. After graduating from Memorial High School, Richard joined the United States Marine Corp. where he served in Vietnam. He was united in marriage on December 11, 1971 to Patricia Spaetti. Richard was a member of Local 16 IBEW where he was a journeyman electrician for 40 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus #5599 and American Legion Post #366 also in St. Meinrad. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Richard loved his family and looked forward to family gatherings. Surviving is his wife, Patty Heerdink, Bristow; children, Neil Heerdink (Kim), Clinton, MO and Sara Heerdink, Boonville; grandchildren, Cassidy, Jacob and Megan Hurt, Riley and Kolby Heerdink; siblings, Mark Heerdink (Janet), Kenya Schoultz (Mike) and David (Becky) Heerdink, all of Evansville; uncle, John Heerdink (Eileen), Evansville and nephews, Kyle Heerdink and Ryan Heerdink, who was Richard's godson. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus from 1:00 until 4:00 PM CDT. Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus, 12433 IN-62, St. Meinrad, IN 47577.
