Cannelton, Indiana Raymond D. "Buck" Butters, 85, passed away June 13, 2017 at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills. Buck was born in Vevay, Indiana on November 24, 1931 to the late John Butters and Hyacinth (Rayles) Butters. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Gracie E. (Beach) Butters, a son, Donald Butters, a sister, Louise Hizer and brothers, James, John, Charles and Les Butters. Buck was a 1952 graduate of Vevay High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. A Boilermaker for 23 years, he had worked for Local 374, retiring in 1989. Buck was a member of Freewill Baptist Church and Tell City Masonic Lodge 623. He enjoyed repairing small engines, passing out candy to people, attending church and spending time with his family. Surviving are his children, Dennis Butters (Sara Aldridge) and Tracy Nugent (Lloyd), all of Cannelton; six grandchildren, Melissa Glenn, Misty Kendall, Stephanie Winkler, Eric Butters, Kasie Reed and Cody Reed, two step grandchildren, Brian and Chad Nugent; five great-grandchildren, Latisha Zuckschwerdt, Lexi Glenn, Cody Winkler, Kyle and Zachary Kendall: five step great-grandchildren, Macy, Alyssa and Tyler Nugent and Laine and Jarret Nugent; two great-great grandchildren, Aubree Zuckschwerdt and Dakota Winkler; two sisters, Marjorie Ford and Alice Carr, both of Vevay. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Freewill Baptist Church in Cannelton. Rev. Lewis C. Garrett will officiate. Burial will follow in New Cliff Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-7:00 PM with a Masonic Service at 6:00 PM and Friday 8:30-9:45 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Freewill Baptist Church.
