Derby, Indiana Ray King, 78, passed away December 23, 2015 at Golden Living Center from complications of Alzheimer's. He was born in Birdseye, January 30, 1937, son of the late Lonnie and Susie (Sanders) King. Also preceding him in death was his son, David Lee King in infancy, sisters, Norma Cronin, Nellie Chanley, Agnes Chumbley, Louise Rush and Minnie Laswell, and brother, Lester King. Ray was united in marriage to Nellie Opal Schraner November 24, 1956 at Lilly Dale Church of Christ. He previously was employed by Mulzer's Crushed Stone and Foertsch Coal Mining, and retired from United Minerals Coal Mining. A member of Lilly Dale Church of Christ, he enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors, deer hunting, being outdoors, and especially loved spending time in his garage. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nellie Opal King; daughters, Debra Goffinet (Gerald), Donna Bryant (Wally); son, Kevin King (Susan), all of Derby; brothers, Kenneth King (Shirley), Derby, Farroll King (Joy), Birdseye, Garroll King (Betty), Birdseye; sister, Reba Volgemann, Tell City; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Reeves (Jeremiah), Lacey Goffinet, Elizabeth Bryant, Morty Bryant, Trevor King and Lucas King and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Pastor Harry McDonald will officiate. Visitation will be 2:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday and from 9:00 until service time on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Cemetery.
