Ray Ham

Cannelton, Indiana Ray A. Ham, 88, passed away July 27, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Cannelton, September 19, 1928, son of the late Louis and Lydia Marguerite (Zellers) Ham. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Pamela Davis, granddaughter, Alicia R. Owens and his best friend, Derrel Zellers. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during World War II and the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Sue Ann Payne July 31, 1976, who survives. Ray loved the city of Cannelton, volunteering his time by serving his community on the Cannelton City Council and the Cannelton School Board for several years. Ray and his brother owned and operated Ham Brothers Construction Company. One of their many projects was building the Courthouse Annex in Cannelton. He was a Mason and former member of Harry G. Myers American Legion Post #142. He enjoyed golf, racing his horses and his dogs. His children will especially remember him encouraging them to further their education. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sue Ann Ham, Cannelton; daughters, Janann Smith (John Wayne), Santa Fe, New Mexico, Leanne Spath (Donnie), Tell City, Brenda Owens (Kevin), Cloverport, KY and Megan Bowlds (Brian), Tell City, brother, John Ham, Owensboro, Kentucky; grandchildren, Derek Spath (Sara), Melissa Spath, Kaycie Weaver, Lauren Smith-Alanis (Alex), Amber Davis, Shaylin Patrick, Devin Booty, Gracie Owens, Joanna Christmas, Lydia and Taylor Cook, Braydon, Allie, Ashley and Brianna Bowlds; great grandchildren, Jaidyn and Rylie Horrom, Kegan Spath, Jocelyn Smith-Rodrigues, Alden Smith-Alanis, Madi Applegate and Kameron Greenwell. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, July 31, 2017 at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel with burial in New Cliff Cemetery where there will be military rites. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Humane Society.
