November 14, 2011 Ralph E. VanHoosier, 82, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro, Kentucky. He was born in Port Homer, Ohio, on October 12, 1929. His parents were the late Cecil and Catherine (Rollins) Van Hoosier. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Hazel Howe and Mary Lou Avery; a brother, William Howe; and his wife, Sylvia Van Hoosier. Ralph was a 1948 graduate of Cannelton High School and was U. S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired as a teacher from Switzerland County School Corp. after 34 years. Ralph was a member of Most Sorrowful Mother of God Parrish in Vevay, Indiana. He enjoyed walking, going to the river to feed the ducks, going to the YMCA and playing poker and bingo. He is survived by a daughter Regina Parker and her husband, John, Tell City and a grandson Brandon Parker and his wife, Mandie, Shelbyville and three great grandchildren, Nathan, Gavin and Kai Parker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery where there will be military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #213. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM on Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
