Engineers Division, serving in New Guinea, South Phillipines and Luzon . He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939 and Harry G. Myers American Legion Post #142. "Putty" retired from Tell City Street Department and had worked for twenty years at Tell City Chair Company. He enjoyed telling stories, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving him are his wife, Gladys; daughters, Sandra Smith (the late Jim), Troy, Paula Jo LeClere (Charles), Tell City and Gladys Ann Covey (Rick), Atlantic City, Wyoming; a son, Gary Baur (Yvonne), Tell City; brothers, Walter "Sonny" Baur, Tell City, Bill "Pee Wee" Baur, Tell City and Robert "Tail" Baur; grandchildren, Westley Smith, Julie Caracappa, Greg Baur, Geoff Baur, Emily Micena and Christine Shelton; eleven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW. Pastor Harry McDonald will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time. Memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939.
