Tell City, Indiana Phyllis Gaynor, 71, passed away December 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Clinton County, Kentucky on November 23, 1946 to the late Willie Edward Story and Vera Christine (Cowan) Story. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Sharon Underhill ; and brothers, Donald Wayne Story in infancy and Gib Story. Phyllis had retired after 20 years from Aleris in Hawesville, Kentucky and was the owner of Phyllis' Tavern, formerly in Cannelton. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading and traveling. Surviving are her children, Jeff Sams (Shannon), Albany, KY, Rich Burchett (Julie), Tell City, and Jonathan Mulzer, Indianapolis; sisters, Wanda Cronin, Shirley Sabelhaus (Dewayne) and Jackie "Tina" Story, all of Tell City; brothers, Randle Story and Jim Story, both of Tell City; grandchildren, Michael Sams (Amy), Jamon and Travis Burchett, and Seth Smith; great-grandchildren, Noah Burchett and Remi Sams; and a goddaughter, Rylie Rain Burns. Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM CST on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with visitation from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Sheila Rearden will officiate. There will also be a funeral service in Albany, Ky at Weldon Haddix Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. CST on Friday, December 15, 2017 with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Craig Cemetery also in Albany, Ky. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
