Paul Pfeiffer

Tell City, Indiana - Paul J. Pfeiffer, 94, passed away February 2, 2017, at Golden Living Center, Lincoln Hills. He was born March 27, 1922 in Evanston, son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Hildenbrand) Pfeiffer. Also preceding him in death was his wife Rose M. (Sitzman) Pfeiffer in 1988; brothers, Carl and Henry Pfeiffer; sisters, Elizabeth Fehrenbacher and Bertha Wassmer and grandson, Timmy Sandage. A U.S. Army Air Force veteran, Paul served his country during World War II. Paul was a member of VFW Post #2939 and former member of American Legion Post #213. He was a dedicated and faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton. Paul retired from Southwire Rod and Cable and had worked at Tell City Furniture Factory for ten years, and Can-Tex Industries for twenty four years. After retirement, Paul helped with maintenance at the Raintree Girl Scout Camp, located outside of Cannelton. He enjoyed gardening and playing music, especially the violin, guitar and banjo. He is survived by his children, Mary Jo Schellenberg, Cannelton, Charlene Mayfield, Tell City, Dennis Pfeiffer (Elaine), Tell City and Larry Pfeiffer (Diane), Tell City; six grandchildren, Tony Sandage, Daniel Pfeiffer, Angela Magary, Jeremy Mayfield, David Mayfield and Callie Pfeiffer; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM CST on Monday, February 6, 2017, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Cannelton, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 5:00 PM Sunday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Cemetery.
