Paul Lutgring

Tell City, Indiana - Paul E. Lutgring, 92, passed away at his home, on Saturday, September 24, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born in St. Marks on September 18, 1919. His parents were the late Edward J. and Bena (Rengers) Lutgring. Also preceding him in death were two sons in infancy; a brother, Charles Lutgring; a sister, Cecilia Flamion and a great granddaughter, Madison Sims. Paul married the love of his life, Rose Hartz, on October 28, 1941, at St. Paul Catholic Church. They were married for 67 years before she passed away on December 8, 2008. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, Paul was a member of American Legion Post #213. He was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He donated much time and equipment to St. Paul for the site preparation for their new church and removal of the old church and also to the Tell City Historical Society. He was a former co-owner of Lutgring Brothers, Inc., president of the former Tell City Builders and Swiss Hills Realty, where he helped develop several subdivisions in the area including, Lutgring Subdivision, Burglen Hills, Werner's Farm and Rocky Point. Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to casinos. Surviving him are his daughters, Gayle Sisley (Ed), Boonville, Mary Jo Hubert (Anthony), Tell City, Pat Solbrig (Mike), Tell City, Rachel Isabell (Brian), Rockport; sons, Dan Lutgring (Vicky), Tell City, Steve Lutgring (Sanki), Tell City, Phillip Lutgring (Sheila), Huntingburg and Jeff Lutgring (Frieda), Tell City; sister, Betty Kraus, Tell City; grandchildren, Natalie McLaughlin, Brian Sisley, Denise Sims, Jason and David Hubert, Stephanie Epple, Kimberly Arndt, Jennifer, Bret, Madeline, Kristopher, Grant, Adam, Trista and Kira Lutgring, Nicole Weaver, Beth Trinkel, Trish Solbrig and Nicholas, Megan and Tyler Isabell; great grandchildren, Heather and Amanda McLaughlin, Maria, Meredith and Owen Hubert, Mallory and Brody Sims, Claire and Isla Epple, William Michael Weaver, Sophia Arndt and Caden Lutgring. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday and 11:00 until 12:30 PM on Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, American Cancer Society or Special Olympics of Perry County.
