Moore Haven, FL

Tell City, Indiana

Gale Pat Jones, 76, passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 2024, at his home in Moore Haven, Florida.

Born on March 25, 1948, to Ezra and Lucille (Laflin) Jones, he graduated from Tell City High School.

Pat served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force, flying with the 17th Special Operating Squadron during Vietnam. Pat was the illuminator operator of the AC119G Gunship, The Shadow. He was a Purple Heart recipient.

Pat retired from Willamette as a master machinist and tool and die maker. After retirement, his heart and mind never strayed too far from the Air Force. He was soon contracted by the military to train civilians to repair planes and become machinists. He was always very proud of time served in the Air Force.

He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W and American Legion.

Pat lived a simple life and had one of the most creative and knowledgeable minds. He loved the outdoors, especially boating and fishing, and had a special place in his heart for cats. He cherished his time with his children and grandchildren and always expressed how proud he was of them.

He will be remembered as caring, generous, and always willing to help people, expecting nothing in return. Pat made everyone around him feel special.

Surviving are his children, Greg Jones (Maryann), Ryan Jones (Andi) and Natalie Jones (Scott Morgan); a sister, Lois Curl; his companion, Karen Brown; grandchildren, Allison, Braden and Chase Jones, Alaina and Rayce Jones and step grandchildren, Madelyn, Asa and Eli Douglas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military rites.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 5th from 3:00-7:00 PM and Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to River’s Edge Animal Shelter.
