Omer worked as chief engineer for twenty-five years with the American Commercial Barge Line, then retired after 27 years from Alcoa. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post #2939, American Legion Post #213, Knights of Columbus Council #1172, and Tell City Historical Society. Omer had a keen interest in history, especially local history and Civil War history. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, and nature. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; sons, Omer ""Junie"" Bryant, Jr. (Katherine), Phoenix, AZ, Rodney Bryant (Lisa), Tell City, and David Bryant (Greta), Tell City, Randy Bryant, Cannelton; daughter, Judy Brothers, Tell City, sister, Garnet Hammack, Tell City; 7 grandchildren, Nicholas Bryant, Jessica Middleton, Joe Bryant, Samantha Bryant, Clinton Bryant, Joshua Bryant and Lucas Bryant; 2 great grandchildren, Alexa Duncan and Joe Middleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in Derby Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #213 and V.F.W. Post #2939. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 8:00 until 9:30 AM Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.There will be a K of C memorial service 6:30 PM Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tell City Historical Society.
