Oliver "Gene" Jones, Jr.

Oliver Eugene "Gene" Jones, Jr., 64 passed away August 22, 2019 at his home. He was born in Greenville, South Carolina on October 11, 1954 to the late Oliver E. Jones, Sr. and Bonnie Mahue. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Olivia Jones; two sons, Oliver E. "J.R." Jones, III and Brad Jones; and his step mother, Sue Jones Bryant. Gene was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and had been a truck driver his entire life. Gene enjoyed music, playing the guitar and drums, singing and writing songs. Gene started playing the guitar at the age of 5 and at the age of 8, he was playing professionally on television alongside his father. He played in several bands and was proud of the CD he recorded with the "Truth Be Told" band. Surviving are his wife, Cindy (Lynch) Bybee Jones; his son, Jesse Barley; step children, Jason Bybee (Nicole) and Jamie Baker (Brian); several grandchildren and two great children; siblings, Jenna Faye Jones, Tom Williams, Nancy Wibbleman, Kim Williams, Stephanie Clark, Jack Jones, Steve Williams, Elana Wickham, and Wade Williams. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CDT on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Ron Ammons will officiate. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery in Branchville. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
