Norma Foertsch

Evanston, Indiana Norma Foertsch, 94, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at her home. She was born in Mount Pleasant on June 9, 1929 to Albertus "Bertie" and Lena (James) Murphy. Norma was a 1948 graduate of Oil Township High School. She was confirmed as an adult in 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Evansville and was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Evanston. Norma was active in her church, teaching Sunday school, quilting and held many roles in the church including on LWNL. She had worked at Lincoln Hills Development Corp. as a bookkeeper and kept agriculture statistics through Purdue University. She enjoyed sewing for missions and she treasured all of her grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Karen Stevens (Darrell), Newburgh, Dennis Foertsch (Donna), Evanston, Elane Tyree (Roger Davis), Grandview and Noah Foertsch (Darlene), Evanston; twelve grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant son, Joe Wayne Foertsch and her siblings, Lorena Melton, Elvis Murphy, Hilda Schwartz, Merton Murphy, Bernita Mogan and Geneva Mathison. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Evanston. Pastor Steve Shank will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the church. Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, is assisting the family with her arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
