Gerald, Indiana Nellie Opal King, 81, passed away January 6, 2018 at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills. She was born in Leopold, Indiana on April 28, 1936 to the late Jesse and Esther Opal (Terry) Schraner. Nellie was a 1954 graduate of Cannelton High School. She was united in marriage on November 24, 1956 to Carroll Ray King, who precedes her in death. Also preceding her in death was their son, David Lee King in infancy; a sister, Thelma Krutz; brothers, Allen "Jack", Maurice and Bill Schraner. As a young woman, Nellie helped in raising her brothers and sisters, cousins and continued her love of nurturing children's lives at Perry Central Schools where she had worked as a teacher's assistant for over 33 years. Nellie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Lilly Dale Church of Christ. Surviving are her children, Debra Goffinet (Gerald), Donna Bryant (Wally) and Kevin King (Susan), all of Derby; a sister, Glenda Gibson, Cannelton; brothers, Robert Schraner, Derby and Charles Schraner, St. Croix; grandchildren, Kelly Reeves (Jeremiah), Lacey Goffinet, Elizabeth Bryant, Morty Bryant (Laura), Trevor and Lucas King; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM CST Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Eddie Olberding will officiate. Burial will follow in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00-6:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Cemetery Fund.
