Muriel Howell

Tell City, Indiana Iris Muriel Howell, 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. She was born on November 30, 1928, daughter of Earl and Pearl (Schraner) Covey. Muriel was a graduate of Tell City High School. A homemaker, she often worked alongside her husband, Curt, at Howell's Garage in Gatchel. Muriel was a lifelong, devoted member of Lilly Dale Church of Christ and Gatchel Homemakers Club. She loved to hike, work in her yard, tend to her flowers and take yearly "girl trips" with her daughters and daughter in law. Muriel loved spending time with her family and having family gatherings. She enjoyed making quilts for all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her children, June Spencer (Jon), Leopold, Ray Howell (Pat), Larry Howell, all of Gatchel and Anna Taylor (Bill), Milltown; a brother, Rodney Covey, Gerald; ten grandchildren, Kelli Hubert (Denny), Tara Edwards, Chris Briggeman (Sarah), Ashley Spencer (Harold White), Scott Howell (Elizabeth), Whitney Kellems (Mark), Niki Cail (Kyle), Cody Howell, Chad Taylor (Jill) and Dustin Taylor (Abby) and 19 great grandchildren, with number 20 due in January. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Curt Howell in 1993 and a brother, Eugene Covey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Lilly Dale Church of Christ. Brother Eddie Olberding will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-7:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel and Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Church of Christ or Lilly Dale Cemetery.
